Magell is a well-known investment and development company based in Northern Ireland that specialises in commercial property across the UK. Established in 1998, Magell is a third generation family business. It was originally established by John Walker and is now run by his grandson, Ryan. As a family run company we play a prominent role in acquiring, designing, developing, constructing/refurbishing and managing best in class commercial real estate throughout the United Kingdom.
Magell has grown steadily over the last three decades and has been involved in property investment and development throughout Northern Ireland and the UK. Magell has experience working across a wide range of property markets including office, retail, logistics, distribution and the residential market. Our aim is to help accelerate economic growth across the regions where we invest and to deliver quality real estate fit for modern occupiers.
Ryan Walker
Ryan trained as a corporate lawyer, having graduated from Trinity Hall, Cambridge and Queen’s University Belfast.
Ryan is the Managing Director of Magell and takes a hands-on approach to overseeing all aspects of the business. Ryan focuses on growing the business within the investment, development and residential sectors.
Ryan commenced his legal career within the corporate department of a Magic Circle law firm in the City of London. Upon his return to Northern Ireland, Ryan was an Associate in the corporate department of A&L Goodbody in Belfast prior to joining Magell in 2018.

John Walker Jnr
JOHN JOINED MAGELL OVER 15 YEARS AGO AND HAS EXPERIENCE WORKING ACROSS A WIDE RANGE OF SECTORS WITHIN THE PROPERTY MARKET
John started working with his family after leaving school, initially joining the family car business. Upon joining Magell John’s first experience in the property sector was managing Cameron Toll, a large shopping complex based in Edinburgh.
Outside work John enjoys farming and driving lorries.

John founded Magell over three decades ago.
Throughout his varied career John has been involved in many different businesses. John started his business life in truck and commercial vehicle sales, moving onto car sales, hotels and then the property industry. John’s experience in the property industry is vast, having invested in shopping centres, retail parks, high street shops and office buildings.
Under John’s direction Magell has grown from humble beginnings to become a long standing and respected player in the property industry.
